They can be of two types: large ones for storing the oil in churches and small ones for administering the sacraments elsewhere. After the Chrism Mass, the parish priest receives the oils and has the obligation to diligently keep them in a dignified place (Code of Canon Law, c. 847). It is customary to store them in a noble cabinet or urn placed in the baptistery or sacristy. There, it is convenient to place them in large and artistic chrismatories, to be used in the administration of the sacraments within the church. However, there are also tubular chrismatories divided into three sections that are practical for administering sacraments outside the church.
