Encuentra información clara para comprar, cotizar, recibir apoyo y conocer nuestras políticas de atención.

Artesanias Jimenez is a family bronze bell foundry in Hidalgo, Mexico, with more than 50 years casting bells. We cast handcrafted bronze bells for churches, chapels, parishes, cathedrals, haciendas, ranches, schools, and town halls, from a small 5 kg (11 lb) bell all the way up to a full metric ton (2,205 lb), and up to 5 tons on special order. Every bell is custom cast to order and shipped to the United States and Mexico. If you want a real Mexican foundry that pours new bronze instead of reselling used or mass-produced bells, you are in the right place. Quotes are quick and friendly by WhatsApp.

What we make

We are bell makers, not resellers. In our workshop we cast bronze church bells, hand bells, and clappers to order. Because each piece is poured for a specific building and a specific request, size and personalization are yours to choose. Here is what our range covers:

  • Small bells from 5 kg (11 lb) for family chapels, schools, and ranches.
  • Medium bells for chapels, haciendas, town halls, and parish churches.
  • Large bells up to 1 metric ton (2,205 lb) for cathedrals and big parishes, and up to 5 tons on special order.
  • Hand bells and clappers (the clapper is the swinging piece inside the bell, called the badajo in Spanish) cast to match your bell.

Bronze bell size chart

Weight is the number that matters most. A heavier bell has a deeper, richer voice that carries farther across a valley or a town, while a lighter bell has a brighter, higher tone that suits a small chapel or a ranch gate. Use the chart below to match a size to your building. When in doubt, tell us the tower or space and we will help you choose.

Weight Diameter Height Typical use
10 kg / 22 lb 25 cm / 10 in 28 cm / 11 in Family chapels, schools
20 kg / 44 lb 35 cm / 14 in 37 cm / 15 in Chapels, town halls
50 kg / 110 lb 49 cm / 19 in 52 cm / 20 in Chapels, haciendas, town halls (our best seller)
100 kg / 220 lb 62 cm / 24 in 65 cm / 26 in Medium churches
200 kg / 441 lb 75 cm / 30 in 78 cm / 31 in Large parishes
500 kg / 1,102 lb 100 cm / 39 in 110 cm / 43 in Large churches, sanctuaries
1,000 kg / 2,205 lb 125 cm / 49 in 133 cm / 52 in Cathedrals, big parishes

Our 50 kg bell is the most popular choice, big enough to be heard across a town yet practical to ship and mount. If you need something between these sizes, or larger, just ask. You can also browse all of our bell sizes and clappers to compare.

Alloys and sound

The voice of a bell comes from its metal. We cast in several alloys depending on the tone and budget you are after:

  • Bronze for a warm, durable, classic bell.
  • Copper-bronze alloy for a balanced, bright ring.
  • Copper-bronze-tin for added resonance.
  • Copper-tin, the traditional bell metal, for the best sonority.

Copper-tin is what bell founders have prized for centuries because tin gives the metal that long, singing sustain you feel in a real church bell. We will walk you through which alloy fits your tower, your climate, and your ear. Tell us how you want it to sound and we will recommend the right mix.

Personalization: your bell, your story

A custom bronze church bell should belong to your community, so we cast your details directly into the metal in relief. We can add:

  • The sacred image you choose, for example Our Lady of Guadalupe, Nuestra Senora de la Salud, or your parish patron saint.
  • The name of your church, parish, or town.
  • The date of the dedication or anniversary.
  • The names of the donors and benefactors.

These reliefs are shaped and finished by hand so the image and lettering stand out cleanly. Years from now, the people who hear your bell will read the names of those who gave it.

Bells already ringing

We have delivered 240+ bronze bells that are ringing today in real towns, parishes, and haciendas. A few of the places our bells now call home:

  • Atempan, Puebla
  • Tarecuato
  • Los Reyes Zochiquilazala
  • San Pedro Apostol, Xalpatlahuac (Guerrero)
  • Hacienda del Refugio
  • Nuestra Senora de la Salud

Each one was cast for a specific community, personalized, packed, and shipped. Yours would be next.

Why buy new from a real Mexican foundry

When you buy a bell, you generally have three options: a new custom bell from a working foundry, a mass-produced import, or a used or antique bell. Here is why families and parishes choose a new, custom-cast bell from us:

  • It is truly yours. Your image, your church name, your date, and your donors are cast into the bronze. A mass-produced bell cannot do that.
  • It is handcrafted. A real person pours and finishes your bell, and you can talk directly to the people who make it.
  • You know exactly what you are getting. A brand-new bell has no hidden cracks, no worn mounting, and no mystery history, unlike a used or antique bell.
  • You pick the size, the alloy, and the tone. The bell is built around your tower and the sound you want, not the other way around.

We would rather earn your trust with an honest, handcrafted bell than with a sales pitch.

Shipping to the United States and Mexico

We ship across Mexico and to the United States. Large bells travel by freight carrier and small bells and hand bells go by parcel, and every bell is protected with reinforced packaging for the journey. When your bell arrives, we guide you on the mounting, the yoke, the clapper (badajo), and the fastening, so your own crew or local installer can hang it correctly. For large bells (over 500 kg) we handle the on-site installation ourselves; for smaller bells your own crew or local installer hangs it with our guidance.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a bronze church bell cost?

The price depends on the weight, the alloy, and the finish and personalization you choose. Because every bell is made to order, there is no single sticker price. Send us your size and details on WhatsApp and we will send you a clear quote.

What size bell do I need?

It depends on your building and how far you want the sound to carry. A small chapel or ranch might use a 10 to 20 kg bell, while a parish often chooses our popular 50 kg bell, and large churches and cathedrals go up to 500 kg or a full ton. Tell us about your tower and we will recommend a size.

Can you customize the bell?

Yes. That is what we do best. We cast the image you choose, such as Our Lady of Guadalupe or your patron saint, along with your church or town name, the date, and the donors, all in relief in the bronze.

What material are the bells made of?

Bronze. Depending on the tone you want, we cast in bronze, a copper-bronze alloy, copper-bronze-tin, or copper-tin, which is the traditional bell metal that gives the best sonority. We help you pick the right one.

Do you ship to the USA?

Yes, we ship to the United States and throughout Mexico. Large bells go by freight carrier and smaller bells by parcel, all with reinforced packaging.

What is the clapper, or badajo?

The clapper, called the badajo in Spanish, is the piece that hangs inside the bell and strikes the wall to make it ring. We cast clappers to match your bell, and we can supply a replacement if you ever need one.

Do you install the bell for us?

For large bells (over 500 kg / about 1,100 lb) we handle the on-site installation ourselves. For smaller bells we guide you through the mounting - the yoke, the clapper, and the fastening - so your own crew or a local installer can hang it safely and correctly.

How long does it take to cast a bell?

Every bell is made to order, so the timeline depends on the size and the details of your project. Message us with what you need and we will give you a realistic timeframe along with your quote.
